You want to look fabulous as well as enjoying yourself at a school dance. Yet finding the balance would be a hard task. Don’t worry. These following tips will help you out, make you look best and feel best.
First you must figure out what kind of dance it is, whether there is a theme or dress code. Homecomings, balls, proms and holiday dances are quite formal, and you need to choose dressier clothing. A formal dress or a classy skirt will do. If it’s an informal dance, wear more casually. But make sure to wear something different from your everyday outfit. You need to pay more attention if it’s a themed dance. It could be a Christian, Hollywood, 1960’s or trendy vampire theme, just dress yourself up with different and suitable attire to match the unique dance theme. Don’t forget the requirements of your school if there is any. Some schools may be a little conservative and don’t let students wear clothes that expose too much skin.
No matter what style will you dress, remember that you should wear something comfortable. You don’t look good if you don’t feel good. Avoid tightly snug dresses as you can’t move comfortably on the dance floor. It would be hot in the gym and you will certainly get warm after dancing, pick light dresses with short sleeves or without sleeves. If you’re afraid of being cold on the way for the dance or back home, bring a wrap or a jacket. Consider the shoes you will be wearing when dancing with your partner. Choose a pair of heels with less height, or stylish sandals that won’t hurt your feet.
Wear make-up, but don’t go too far. You’re still a student and you needn’t try a totally different look at the school dance unless it’s a masquerade. Add a bit of glitter on your eyelids and a little mascara, blush your face with some flattering color. It’s enough and you’ve already spiffed up. The same goes to your hair. Keep your hairstyle simple. A pony tail or an easy up-do is fit for school dances, you can also wear your hair down if you want a feminine look.
Wear some accessories if you like. Anything that adds color and charm is alright. But keep it in modest as your dancing partner will give you a flower, the corsage, to wear for the dance. It’s usually pinned to your dress. Keep in mind that your accessories or embellishment of your dress should not contrast against the corsage.
